Empty Trunk – Week 11 – Weight Loss

I went to Zumba this morning!  Yay!  The ladies in the Empty Trunk Facebook Group have really been terrific supports for keeping me accountable and getting me to finally follow through with calling the church and going to the class this morning.

I LOVE Zumba and just invited my friend Jessica to join me on Saturday mornings, so even more reason to get up and get moving.  I am excited to have this resource so close and it turns out, only $4 per time if you buy a punch card.

Other exciting news is that I met Gina from Special Happens in real life at lunch yesterday.  Woot!  It is so much fun to finally meet face to face and already be friends.

But on other news related to weight loss, I reverted to bad habits this week.  I’m not really sure why either – not too much stress, nothing unusual going on, but I just wasn’t motivated to be good about Empty Trunk choices.   Alcohol, large lunches, limited water, no pedometer tracking, minimal fruit and veggies… the list goes on.   And the scale showed it…


  • Start – Dec. 20 – 70.5 lbs to lose
  • Week 10 – plus 1.4 = 59.9  lbs to lose
  • Total to date – minus 10.6

I am glad to see the scale confirm my choices.  I think that may have been part of my motivation lack – having losses even when not making great choices had me saying why bother?  But hopefully this gain will get me back on track this week.  And I”m already off to a good start with Zumba class this morning!

Weekly Tip

Tip:   Find an exercise that is FUN,  and not just work.  It is easier to stick to a workout schedule when you look forward to it.  :)

  1. I started Weightwatchers online 7 weeks ago and I hit a plateau about 2 weeks ago. Overall, I’ve lost 8 pounds and can’t seem to lose anymore. I bought a treadmill AND zumba tapes but my challenge is the food. My food choices are abysmal.

    So, I’m going to check out your group for support. I need all the help I can get.

  2. Hey all. Well I weighed today and I am STILL at 8.2 lost total. So that is three weeks at the same weight. :( However, I have to admit I have been buried trying to finish the last three weeks of school and I am stressed over that, it isn’t helping that my professor is being difficult. So, if I don’t gain any until school is over I will be happy. I also admit exercise really hasn’t been a priority with the school work load. I also admit that 6 days of the last 3 weeks have been over my calorie limit days so that probably did not help any. So, I will keep on keeping on and working on it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Hope next week is better!

  3. Congrats on your weight loss. Slow and steady wins the race – or that’s what I tell myself anyway. I LOVE Zumba!!! It doesn’t feel like exercise and is so fun. I also recently started doing TurboFire. It’s supercharged, dance/kick-boxing oriented and in the week I’ve done it I’ve already noticed just a week bit more room in the jeans. It’s pretty intense but very fun! Good luck this week and I look forward to reading your next post.

    • Thanks Portia! So glad to have you in our Mim community. Zumba definitely is the “it” exercise right now, but the music is so motivating – I feel a little sexy while getting sweaty – what’s not to like? :)

  4. Congrats on your going to Zumba and I am sure this week you will make more Clean Eating choices..I try and remember that tomorrow is a new start to my choices..Congrats to all on your weight losses and good choices..

    As for me this week I had a 4lb loss and have been making good choices with food only one slip had some Reeses PeanutButter Eggs, but was right on track again..Exercised 4 days this week, but still working on Week 2 of the Couch to 5K, but think this week I am going to go up to Week 3 because I did notice on the 3 day of the program this week I was able to handle the time of jogging/running better and also think I was trying to run at too high a speed with never doing it before..

    May we all make good choices this week and thanks for the support of all my Friends on the Facebook Site you really make this journey so much easier..

    • Woot! 4 pounds is fantastic! You are doing really well and THANK YOU for the accountability about going to Zumba! It was fun and close and definitely worth doing.
