I was contacted by Skin MD Natural and offered the opportunity to review their lotion. The part that really stood out to me in their description was:
… addressing severe dry skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis. People with sensitive skin — and those of us who like to live as naturally as possible — will appreciate that Skin MD Natural is hypoallergenic, free of fragrances, parabens and colorants. It is made with more than 90% natural ingredients and 100% food-grade ingredients that are on the FDA’s “most safe” list.
My daughters both have sensitive skin and have had eczema, but my youngest – Chloe – has it pretty badly. She will scratch at her elbows and backs of her knees until she makes herself bleed. I haven’t yet decided if it’s completely weather related, or if there is a food allergy component causing it, but I do know it’s horrible and has affected her for a couple of years now. I received a bottle and a handful of individual packets and tried it out. (I loved having the individual packets in my purse in Paris!)
I was surprised the lotion is not thick like Eucerin (which our pediatrician recommended) and assumed that meant it wouldn’t be as moisturizing. But I was wrong. I don’t know if the lotion is the catalyst or the weather changing with Spring, but Chloe’s eczema has been gone for about 3 weeks now and we applied the lotion for about 5 days.
I also liked that it didn’t sting her like others had done. With the open scratches, some of the lotions with alcohol and fragrances would hurt when we applied it to the eczema and this one didn’t.
It isn’t as cheap as say Vasoline or Jergen’s, but it isn’t outrageously expensive either at $18 for a 3 month supply.
** I was given the lotion for free to review, but was not compensated in any other way and other than the words in quotes above, the rest are all mine.
