After last week’s confessions I did turn things around and followed the Nutrisystem plan more closely. I don’t feel like I just threw it out the window completely. I even used my treadmill for the first time in
forever awhile and jogged a day of Couch to 5K running program.
The result? I gained 2.2 pounds instead of 4 pounds.
You may not be thinking this is going in the right direction and I’d have to agree with you. But progress has been made – the problem wasn’t when I followed Nutrisystem, but the multiple times I was unable to stick to the program.
I started my own consulting firm a few weeks ago, and started contacting potential clients. What happens when you want to woo a client to your new company? You take them out to lunch or for drinks. Great for business, not so great for my waistline.
Last week I had 2 client lunches, 2 client happy hours, and one social gathering of friends that involved cocktails at my house. FIVE high calorie events. Plus I also cheated. I baked 12 dozen Christmas cookies and have to admit to snacking on a few – although I limited my intake, maybe 5 cookies total, which isn’t too bad, it’s still not weight loss friendly. To top it all off, I had 10 squealing 4th graders over for a sleepover for my daughter’s 10th birthday. Pizza may have been involved and 3 slices may have made it onto my plate.
The result is that I gained 2 pounds. But the positive is that I realize I can’t isolate myself from the rest of the world (and it’s food) indefinitely. I need to figure out how to integrate dining out, drinks with friends/clients, and temptations with my Nutrisystem plan. That’s the only way this will work – if I make lifestyle changes. I can’t treat this like a temporary diet.
Thankfully Nutrisystem has a great online community and dietitians available to help support integrating Nutrisystem and lifestyle choices into the day to day temptations and events that I will face as I move forward. I’m happy to have learned another lesson on this journey and can’t wait to jump in! This week I have happy hour planned for Tuesday – I’ll let you know how it goes!
- Total weight loss to date – 3.8 pounds.
- First goal 10 pounds (6.2 lbs to go).
Weekly Weight Loss Tip:
If you know you are going out socially, pre think what you’ll eat and drink. Check the menu online and identify better choices for food and drink that will support your weight loss goals.
