Christmas & Weight Loss

With the Christmas holidays and my weigh-in day being Sunday, I didn’t get around to writing my weekly weight loss post until just today.  However, I did weigh myself Christmas morning before heading downstairs to the chaos of kids, Santa, and related holiday foods.  I had a decent weight loss week, mostly proud of having completed 3 days of Couch to 5K running program.

That includes having run for 21 minutes without stopping!  I am officially back to the best running shape I’ve been in after taking a month long hiatus that set me back.

I am astonished at my body’s ability (and yours too) to get fit.  I am running further and faster now than I did when I was much younger and much lighter.  When I was 16 I remember being proud of being able to jog 1.5 miles.  Last week?  I ran 2.25 without stopping and that was at a speed of 6.9 on the treadmill.

Don’t get me wrong – I still don’t enjoy running.  But exercising and being able to run is making me so proud of myself, that I no longer detest running.  I feel strong and powerful when I suit up and get on that treadmill.  I’m not even making my husband leave the room any more when I’m on the treadmill!  He is welcome to watch my jiggly parts – and there are a lot of them – jiggle their way to completing 2.25 miles without a break.

Weight Loss Food

I followed the Nutrisystem  plan more closely – although not to the tee.   I am averaging about 1/2 pound lost per day that I stick with the Nutrisystem plan to the tee, but then I cheat and have to make up for the gain/no loss so am not always hitting 3.5 pounds per week which I’m pretty sure I would if I followed the plan perfectly.

This week’s balance of following versus cheating ended with me losing 1.4 pounds.

  • Total weight loss to date – 8.4 pounds.
  • First goal 10 pounds (1.6 lbs to go).

Weight Loss Goals

I”m already 4 days into this week and know I’m not doing very well with sticking to either food or exercise plans (and have gained 3 pounds due to it).  But for the 3 days left of this week, my plan is to:

  • exercise 2 times,
  • follow Nutrisystem closely, and
  • lose some of the weight my indulgence the past four days has gained me.

Weight Loss Motivation

My motivation is to get my 3 year old to stop telling me I have a big butt.

How did your week go?

  1. As someone who can’t run three blocks (I’ve tried), I’m super impressed. This is very inspiring!

But I think I’ll sit on the couch here a bit longer ;-). At least now I’ll skip the ice cream, hehe.

  2. Daria – You are doing amazing and looking amazing. I’d love to join in your Junk in the Trunk but I haven’t posted about it. Is that how I join?
