2011 Weight Loss

It was this time last year that I decided to take control of my weight and fitness.  I was tired of being fat and was seriously out of breath whenever I tried to, well, do anything really.

I was beating myself up for not having lost the 70 pounds in 2011 that was the goal I had a year ago.  However, focusing on the positive – I did end the year weighing less than I started it.  6.2 pounds lighter to be exact.  No, not amazing or awe inspiring in any way, but it IS in the right direction at least!

However, on the fitness side of things I am patting myself on the back for sticking with Couch to 5K.  I went from being winded going up stairs to being able to run 21 minutes without a break!  I am very excited about the strides (hehe) that I’ve made improving my fitness level in 2011.

You’ll notice this isn’t as much as my total weight lost that I mentioned.  That’s because at one point a few points in 2011 I weighed more than what I did at the beginning of the year.  Total weight loss that I’m reporting is from my heaviest weight in 2011, ever actually.

Last week I did better than I expected since I fell off the wagon for the majority of it.  But those 3 days of following Nutrisystem and exercising was enough to balance it out and I ended the week breaking even.

  • Total weight loss to date – 8.4 pounds.
  • First goal 10 pounds (1.6 lbs to go).

Weight Loss Goals

I indulged myself with tons of high calorie foods and alcohol on New Year’s, along with a marathon day of sloth (didn’t move off the couch or change out of PJ’s) on January 1.  But here are my goals for the remaining 5 days of this week:

  • exercise 3 times,
  • follow Nutrisystem closely, and
  • lose some of the weight my indulgence the past few days has gained me.

Weight Loss Motivation

My motivation is to get rid of the tummy roll I’ve developed that I’ve never had before.

  1. I fell of the wagon in a huge way – I totally relate to the belly roll thing. I have love handles and weight in places I’ve never had before! I like how you’ve broken things down into steps, small goals… I think that’d be helpful for me to do as well!

    • I’ve found that I get really discouraged unless I set very small goals. Plus the weekly goals helps a lot – especially for getting the work outs in – knowing I do it every other day and only have so many days etc, helps.

  2. I am so proud of you! Not so much for losing weight, but for sticking with it and not giving up! I’m lighter now than when I started mid-year, and I am resolved to continue until I reach my goal. Let’s do this!

    • Thanks Le’Ann! I really appreciate your comment, because I DO get discouraged that I haven’t made much weight progress – but I AM still doing something about it which is important. And I need to remind myself of what I have done that’s a huge improvement over this time last year.

      We WILL do this!
