This post brought to you by CafeWell. All opinions are 100% mine.
As you know, I am actively focusing on getting healthier – including losing weight and getting fit.
When I was in an office, it was easier, because our administrative team developed a wellness plan with incentives for participating. Plus, it gave me other people to talk to and who would help motivate me because the whole office was engaged in the plan.
Now, I’m back in an office setting again, but it’s a very small staff so we don’t have the benefit of a wellness plan developed yet.
CafeWell is an option for helping provide the benefits of a wellness plan to individuals that may not have access to one through work – whether because they don’t have an office or their office doesn’t provide one. This is beneficial to individuals because they have free access to:
- information such as health encyclopedia, drug checker and symptom checker
- private advice from coaches and wellness experts
- groups of individuals facing similar issues
- motivating challenges where you can earn points and rewards
Testimonials from CafeWell participants:
I never thought I was competitive before. Now I am counting steps and enjoying seeing them add up. My husband was actually teasing me a little and telling me that I was competitive after all…It has been fun to encourage each other to get more steps in each day. It is also fun to see the medals add up. I don’t know whose idea it was to get this program started, but it is a great one.
I am absolutely thrilled with this motivating program.
Using CafeWell helps health plans increase participation in their care management and wellness programs. One such wellness challenge that helps motivate insured members of Altius is Reach for the Peaks where members are encouraged to use a wireless pedometer and log their miles. Miles translate to points and prizes -including a trip to Hawaii!
Healthier members of course have fewer medical costs which reduce expenses for the health plans – win-win.
Programs such as these help boost employee morale – challenges with your coworkers are FUN! Plus encourages health and fitness which increases productivity, reduces sick days and ultimately benefits the company’s profits.
Do you have a wellness program where you work? If so, what type of activities does it include?
