Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe for Carrot Cake

Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe for Carrot Cake

I have a few items that I simply LOVE and I thought I’d share with you.  They will be tagged as Everyday Favorites.    These are completely NOT sponsored in any way.  Just things that I’ve tried (on my own nickel) and love enough to want to share with others.  carrot cake with cream cheese frosting

First up is the Carrot Cake (Decadent) boxed cake mix by Duncan Hines.  It is SO good!  None of that artificial aftertaste or staleness that you can sometimes have with boxed cake mixes.   It comes with actual grated carrots and raisins so your cake is full of texture and taste.  It’s the best.

Which of course led to a recipe for cream cheese frosting.  I mean, what’s carrot cake without cream cheese frosting – right?

1 package of cream cheese
1/4 stick butter
2 cups powdered sugar
Flavoring of choice (pick one):

  • tsp vanilla extract
  • tsp lemon extract (add tablespoon of lemon zest and garnish with lemon zest for stronger flavor)
  • tsp orange extract (add tablespoon of orange zest and garnish with orange zest for stronger flavor)
  • 2 tsp grated ginger (garnish with candied ginger)
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon (garnish with sprinkled cinnamon)

Just blend all the ingredients together until creamy and smooth then frost your cupcakes or cake.
