11 Week Weight Loss Weigh In
Two steps forward, one step back.
Or, more relevantly – 20 pounds lost, 10 pounds gained.
I took the past few weeks off from trying to lose weight. There were a variety of reasons – special events, family visiting, waiting for my next shipment of Medifast.
The first week I was pretty good and stayed reasonable with my eating (that was the week I was waiting for my next shipment).
Falling off the wagon doesn’t really capture the full swan dive I took into gluttony.
I didn’t just stray, I intentionally sought out all the foods and drink I wasn’t eating on plan because “Since I’m already off plan, may as well splurge on the things I’ve been avoiding.”
Yeah, not a great attitude if you want to lose weight.
Not only did I eat a cookie, but I’d get two because I was already off plan, so why not?
Choosing what to eat included items with the MOST carbs as possible, because I was “cheating” so may as well go all the way.
As expected, I gained weight.
Ten pounds added back to my frame = pants are snug and I feel blah.
My middle is soft, my energy level is down, and my attitude is cranky.
The good news?
I’m feeling heavy and ugh and ready to do something about it while 10 pounds lighter than I was before I started Medifast. *13 actually as I’ve lost 3 pounds since my “official” weigh in yesterday*
Why is that good news?
I didn’t have to get to my heaviest or pass my peak before I started paying attention and wanting to make a change.
So, right now I’m 10 pounds lighter than I was on 8/18/2014 and I’m hopping right back on the Medifast plan.
Yes, I could have been much closer to my goal if I hadn’t gotten off track, but I’m not completely derailed and I’m still ahead of where I was a couple of months ago.
It’s a journey.
Weight loss is a journey.
Maybe a journey with more twists and turns than I’d like.
Maybe I have to do a little backtracking before starting forward again, but I’m still journeying and have a destination in sight.
I am taking a trip in the next few weeks. A trip that I want to take a BAZILLION photos of to capture the memories.
A trip that I want to dress well for and have a huge smile on my face as I grin into the camera.
A trip that I don’t want to worry about the angles and whether I’m standing behind someone to cover up my heavy areas.
A date, a destination, and a goal to be 15 pounds lighter before that plane lifts off.
Let’s do this!
Travel along with me won’t you?
